1971-S Ike Silver Peg Leg

1971-S IKE SILVER PEG LEG MARKER

BS FADING PEG LEG (FPL ) (FS-401) (Wiles DDO-009) (Wexler DDO-007)

Left leg of R is NOT a marker (can look like SPL).  T and Y are markers with prominent valley between the legs of the R (obvious in hand on rotation). (There are two FPL obverse dies with slightly different DDO’s and 2 mintmark placements.)

BS STRAIGHT PEG LEG (SPL) (Wiles ODV-003 and WH-1-R-1-CWa)

Plump “Redwood Tree” peg leg with no valley between legs of the R, T with no serifon left arm, normal Y, crisp DDR (loupe) on “LL” and “C”.   There is an SPL obverse paired with a common reverse (status uncertain) and a very occasional common obverse paired with the SPL’s DDR.  Also, an “Almost” SPL can be created with heavy obverse die abrasion (very occasionally paired with the DDR) but then the field under the left leg of the R is abraded and/or curved.
